OUR MISSION

Oceanic Research Group, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) environmental organization dedicated to ocean conservation. Our principal mission is the production of educational films and products designed to increase awareness of marine environments and species. We were formed in 1991 and incorporated in 1993.

Films for the Classroom
Our educational films for use in the classroom have won over a dozen awards including the CINE Golden Eagle, Kids First and CINDY awards. We produce several series of films based on classroom curricula as well as specific topics in ocean studies. Our newest series is Jonathan Bird's Blue World, a host-driven marine exploration program hosted by Jonathan Bird. Our Streaming Video Project is now making many of our films available here on this website for free.

On-line Resources
Our Wonders of the Sea section is the most popular part of our website. Here students find lessons in the biology of different kinds of animals. This section of our website has been repeatedly praised by educators, has earned the National Science Teachers Association "SciLinks" award and has received over 1 million hits.

Marine Scholarship Program
Our marine scholarship program awards tuition money to students pursuing undergrad and graduate degrees in ocean-related studies. The money is raised at an annual fundraiser benefit and the scholarship is usually awarded at the same event.

Television Programming
Although our principal goal is to provide educational programming and materials for use in schools, we occasionally produce educational films that bridge the gap into television and have aired all over the world.
