The 8th Annual O.R.G. Benefit is November 5th, 2010.
An Introduction to Appreciation of Fine Wine by Pierre Séguin.
This year, we are doing something a little different for our fundraiser--something that will appeal to a wider audience. An enjoyable evening learning about wine, tasting some of the finest wines available and also helping ORG.
Are you curious about wine but don't really know anything about it? Does wine seem complicated? Maybe you are somewhat knowledgeable but would like to take your knowledge and tasting skills to the next level. Here is the opportunity of a lifetime to learn the basics of wine tasting from a world-renown expert without any pretentiousness. We will taste and enjoy six world-class wines in a fun-filled evening with food and great company, all at the same time helping to raise money for Oceanic research Group's important Marine Scholarship Program.
What will be covered?
• An overview of different kinds of wine.
• How to judge a wine purely by its color, and how to interpret colors. What colors tell you about a wine's age and varietal.
• How to smell wine, describe the fragrances and what the nose (fragrances) of a wine can tell you.
• How to taste wine and describe the taste.
• How to evaluate a wine and it's attributes.
• Common wine/food pairings and why they are compatible or not compatible
• Tasting 6 different world-class wines (2 whites and 4 reds)
By the end of the class, you will be able to look at, smell, and taste a wine like an expert, evaluate it, describe it to others and draw your own conclusions.
Wine tasting is fun, and when you know what you are doing, it's even better! Don't miss out on this limited-seating event. Only 120 seats are available! (Only adults over 21 are allowed to attend this event.) Tickets are $99 per person and are only available here in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door.
