The 5th Annual O.R.G. Benefit was on November 11, 2007.
World-renown underwater photographer and Fathoms Magazine editor Ethan Gordon, presented a breath-taking visual tour of the world's tropical oceans, including Bonaire, the shark triangle (Cocos, Malpelo, and Galapagos) and Fiji. And he had a warning about the future of these remarkable habitats as they face serious environmental perils and how conservation measures can save and preserve them.
Emmy Award-winning Cinematographer Jonathan Bird presented a recent episode of his CINE Golden Eagle-winning educational program Jonathan Bird's Blue World and discussed plans for the future of this engaging program for younger viewers.
In addition, Oceanic Research Group showed its new educational internet video Sharks: Predators with a Purpose that highlights the plight of sharks due to shark fishing and finning.
There were raffles and silent auctions for dozens of special items for the diver and for people who love the ocean, including a dive in the New England Aquarium Giant Ocean Tank, Wyland print, a Bose radio, dive gear, books, prints, and more.
All of this raised money for the Oceanic Research Group, Inc. Marine Scholarship Program which aids college or graduate students pursuing marine-related studies. The 2007 scholarship was awarded to Betsy Barber from the University of Maine at Machias.

This Wyland print will be auctioned:

A new day breaks over the Hawaiian Islands in this epic painting by acclaimed marine life artist Wyland. Reef fish and dolphins scour the reef, as a humpback whale thrusts its body upward in a mighty breach. “I wanted to create a painting that celebrates life,” Wyland says. “Dawn, of course, is the perfect symbol for that, but the sea creatures in this painting also seem to recognize the fact that they have been given another day.”
