Announcing the 2012 Oceanic Research Group Marine Scholarship Awards
The 2012 ORG Scholarship program saw an unprecedented number of qualified applicants. As a result we were moved to do what we could to award more than one scholarship. We took some time to do additional fundraising, and are pleased to be able to award scholarships at two levels. We are awarding scholarships in the amount of $1000 and $250 to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
We are very happy to award the 2012 ORG Scholarships to:
- Undergraduate Level:
- $1000 Scholarship to Julia Luthringer, working toward a B.A. in Marine Science at Boston University
- $250 Scholarship to Victoria Barker, working toward a B.S. in Marine Science at the University of South Carolina
- Graduate Level:
- $1000 Scholarship to Carrie Schuman, working toward a PhD in Interdisciplinary Ecology with a concentration in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Florida
- $250 Scholarship to Brenna Mahoney, working toward a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz
We want to thank all of the 2012 scholarship program applicants. We are encouraged by the passion and commitment to preserving the marine environment evident in the applications we had the honor to review. Congratulations to our 2012 scholarship awardees!
