MEET THE PEOPLE OF OCEANIC RESEARCH GROUP

 

JONATHAN BIRD, President, Cinematographer

Emmy Award-winning cinematographer and producer. Jonathan is president of O.R.G., as well as a widely published author, award-winning assignment cinematographer and speaker. Formerly an adjunct professor at the New England Institute of Art and Communications in Boston, MA, Jonathan produces films for O.R.G. He occasionally leads diving trips to exotic destinations as well as teaches underwater photo and video courses. Jonathan's web site features pictures and other information about his work in the underwater world. Jonathan is the host of the new Oceanic Research Group educational series Jonathan Bird's Blue World.

Art Cohen

ART COHEN, Producer, Board Member

Emmy Award winning producer and O.R.G. board member, has over 30 years producing experience in the television industry. He has worked for A&E, PBS and ABC to name just a few. Here, Art relaxes before the premier of "Sharks: The Real Story" at the New England Aquarium in Boston.

CHRISTINE BIRD, Treasurer

An experienced diver and medical doctor, Christine works in a variety of ways with O.R.G. As the most organized member of the group, she serves as production manager on location, as well as assisting with underwater shooting and modeling. Her medical training comes in handy, since we're all quite prone to injury! Back at the office, she is the main researcher for the films and also involved in the constant search for funding.

Julia Cichowski

JULIA CICHOWSKI, Board Member

A diver since 1998, Julia's career is in information technology and she has worked in Financial Services for over 20 years. Her planning and leadership skills have come in very handy as a Line Producer for ORG film projects and Blue World. Julia organizes every aspect of a production from budgeting and expedition planning all the way through to assisting with the shots underwater. She makes sure we come home with all the shots we need to edit a segment. She is also the director of the ORG Scholarship Program.

TOM KRASUSKI, Secretary

O.R.G. board member and Emmy Award-winning assistant producer and cinematographer Tom Krasuski is an engineer at a radio telescope in Hawaii when he isn't exploring the ocean. Here he is recording sound for The Silent Wrecks of Kwajalein Atoll.

TIM GEERS, Cinematographer

Tim is an Emmy Award-winning cinematographer/field producer and a news videographer for WCVB-TV channel 5 in Boston (the ABC affiliate). An avid diver and underwater cameraman, Tim frequently contributes to O.R.G. projects, bringing his exceptional attention to detail to the television screen. He directs many of the Jonathan Bird's Blue World shoots.
